NAFAS in the Home Counties
Some members may not be aware that part of the annual membership fee collected by your local Bedford Club is paid over as affiliation fees to the National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS). This means that every member of the Bedford Club is a member of NAFAS too and is therefore entitled to attend Area and National events organised either directly by NAFAS or by the Area – Home Counties – that Bedford falls in. The Home Counties Area covers 55+ clubs, in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and some of Essex.
Below is a diary of Area and National events that might be of interest to you.
2026 Home Counties Area Events

| Tuesday 28th April 2026 | Home Counties Members’ Day @ Marford Memorial Hall, Wheathampstead.
Starts at 11am with a talk by Maria Pennington ‘ Diamonds’ followed by lunch. Then at 1.30pm a demonstration by National Demonstator Lucy Ellis entitled ‘Nature’s Embrace’. Tickets only. Speak to Lynda or Mary if interested in going. Car share may be available. |
| Saturday 27th September 2026 | Area Show and Competitions
Marford Memorial Hall, Marford Road, Wheathampstead AL4 8AY (10am-5pm). Join us for the NAFAS Home Counties Area Show, a vibrant celebration of creativity, skill, and floral artistry. This inspiring event showcases stunning designs from talented competitors across the region, offering a feast of colour, imagination, and craftsmanship. |

The NAFAS National Show is moving north in 2027 to the Lincolnshire Showground. A full two days of magnificent floral displays by our talented and inspirational members along with tutorials, workshops and speeches.Plans are already well under way with more information to follow.
